Prominent Midland Motor Car Chief Engineer Fatally Injured
John I. Miller chief engineer and designer for the Midland Motor Car company, died at 7 40 p m after a wreck at Fifty Atth street crossing. The car carrying three Midland employees stalled on Burlington tracks and was struck by a Sterling local train. Miller, Kelley, Gamble, and Pope were aboard. Kelley and Pope escaped, Miller and Gamble injured. Miller died later at the city hospital. He leaves a widow and four daughters, his parents, a brother and two sisters. Miller, born August 20 1872 in Peoria, had held positions in St Louis Chicago and Denver before joining Midland four years ago. He married Edna Johnston in Peoria in 1893.

Circular dairy barn near Kewanee attracts farmers and visitors
Dr Lawrence Ryan of Chicago is building a large circular dairy barn on his farm seven miles northeast of Kewanee. The eighty foot diameter, three story structure features a cement basement for stock, a grain and machinery floor, and a hay storage level with a cement silo. The dome roof uses lightweight strips and thousands of shingles, with a circular hay track and a feed car system to reduce manual labor.
