Pioneer Gene Withrow Dies at Pink Prairie

Pioneer Gene Samuel B Withrow died December 2 at Pink Prairie after three years of care by daughter Mary J Withrow. Born in Cumberland County Kentucky he came to Geneseo in 1835 and farmed while running a ferry on Hook River. Survived by four children Mary J Margaret A Julia and James N the family notes his Methodist beliefs and kinship to Daniel Boone. Mary thanks relatives and friends for aid.

High School Items and Fire Losses Highlight Iterate

Last week at North Side the Ideal featured visitors Lucretia Dickson and Hazel Schnabet while a minor fire claimed a little girl's scissors from room three. The North Side school building burned, forcing grades to move to our building and church basement for the rest of the year. County Superintendent Russell held central exams Tuesday with about a dozen candidates for High School honors.
