Geneseo Chautauqua closes with record crowd and promise of next year
The Sixth annual Geneseo Chautauqua closed Sunday evening with about 1500 attendees, the largest audience yet. Organizer H S Magill praised the community spirit and announced that 700 tickets are already subscribed for next year, with Adrian Newens and the Davault Entertainment Company providing the final program. Senator Magill’s address on Illinois faced a storm interruption but highlighted state history from French occupation to Anglo-Saxon law, urging continued support for large corporations under public control. The week featured Miss Davault, Master Joseph Gill, and Mr Taggart delivering varied readings, music, and ventriloquism, with strong performances and favorable audience reception noted throughout.
