Erie Bridge Damaged by Ice Gorge Break
Ice gorge broke upstream causing about seventy five feet of the steel approach to the Erie bridge on the Erie side to be knocked out. A river gorge above the bridge sent ice downstream with force that offered little resistance to the bridges. The Republic offers a fine Illinois map to subscribers paying for a year in advance, noting usefulness for showing even small villages.
