Siege of Jaffa Ends in Blood and Plunder

In Rama Syria the siege of Jaffa by Mehemet Beck, calling himself Abou daab, ended May 23 after 49 days. The city was taken by assault, churches profaned, and two Franciscans, Father Peralta and Father Caballero, beheaded for refusing to convert. The Prior saved 150 Christians but many perished.
