Ambassador Repnin enters Constantinople in grand parade

From the London Gazette Paris reports Ambassador Repnin of Petersburg arrives in Constantinople with his party. The public entry is marked by a grand procession led by a Vizier’s retinue including Janissaries, officers, and a decorated retinue of 150 soldiers and many gentlemen. The Prince travels by horse, reaches Pera in good health after a long circuit. The notice also covers storm damage reports from Holland and various London notices and societal items.

Robbers Loot Glanmire House and Forcibly Enter

On Monday night at Glanmire a band of villains attacked Mr Powey’s house. They tied and beat him and his wife to force confessions about hidden money, then loaded beds chairs tables and other furniture onto a cart drawn by a horse borrowed from the Reverend Finn and carried it away amid triumph.

Ferry Disaster At Lambton Drowns Forty Three

A Lambton ferry on the Wear near Chester street capsized in a strong current. Of the 15 men, 2 women, and children aboard, along with two kylegs, forty three people were drowned. Rescue efforts followed as locals etc.
