Russian Victory Near Silistria Reported by Courier

A Vienna dispatch dated October notes a courier arriving with reports of four new Russian victories near Silistria. General Thiehar’s forces reportedly killed 808 enemies, captured 1,000 prisoners and seized heavy cannon, tents and equipment. Unghar moves toward Silistria to trap the fortress as Turks fear the advancing Christian banners at Constantinople.

Five Men Drown After Boat Sinks Off Harbour On Monday

In a perilous voyage on Monday evening a boat carrying five men encountered high seas and sank. Four men perished while the remaining crewman was rescued. The next morning two vessels in distress near the harbour signalled for help but could not be aided. One vessel of about 150 tons named $arthen wrecked but all crew survived.

London Court Case on Mayor Summons and Vandalism

At the Court of Common Council Mr Hurford charged the Mayor with partiality in sending summonses without business stated.
