Letter VI in defense of public cause against private insult
The author answers questions about private character and loyalty to Mr Wilkes, insisting he supported the public cause over private pique. He recalls knowledge of the subject since Middlesex politics, defends his public aims, and condemns private schemes that could harm constitutional liberty. He pledges continued diligence to oppose mischief and uphold the people's rights. The letter promises a continuation.
