Petition to incorporate for plate glass manufacture in Commons

Mr. Mackworth moved to introduce a petition seeking a set of gentlemen to form a body to promote plate glass manufacture. He argued the high prices, foreign imports, and monopolies harm public revenue, proposing a limited liability with bye laws. A committee was named to examine the petition and report back.

Indolence and Charity in a Soldier's Retrenchment

A narrative recalls a forced London stint that saved health and spirits, aided by an Admiral’s sharp witticisms, and reflects on idleness as a public enemy. The author recounts misuses of trust, poor servants, and a knavish attorney, then laments wasted hours and the fate of cousin Tom Trueman who died in gaol.
