Insurgents Defeated by North Carolina Militia at Alamance

In North Carolina the Regulators rebellion is reported crushed after a battle five miles west of the Alamance River near Hillsborough. The governor led a militia detachment of about four hundred against roughly two thousand insurgents, with about sixty government soldiers killed or missing and unknown insurgent losses. The victory prompted public thanks to officers and troops.
