Tolbert Tub Carved From Limestone Draws Local Interest
Tolbert fashioned a bathtub from a massive alab of limestone he hollowed and shaped with chisels. The tub remains in use on the farmhouse first floor with 18 inch thick walls built by T D Bone. Erle Powell, a relative of Mr Borie, recalls the tub as a curiosity of early days and prefers it to modern slick tubs.

In Coryell County 692 of 908 votes backed Martin, 216 supported Spears, giving Martin a 486 vote edge. Statewide final returns show Martin with 362,624 votes to Spears's 285,922, with Spears winning in Bexar and Harris counties. Martin led in 18 of 23 Coryell precincts.

Mrs Markunas of Killeen HS Named Teacher of the Year
Rae Juan Markunas biology teacher at Killeen High School was awarded teacher of the year by the National Honor Society. NHS president Tom Dunn announced the honor at the annual faculty banquet.
