In Coryell County Ralph Yarborough led with 2,583 votes in the first primary comeback bid, but in the U S senator runoff he trailed Sanders who won 2,228 to 1,613. Hobby narrowly defeated Connally for lieutenant governor in Coryell County. Calvert beat Wilson in the comptroller race in Coryell County, with statewide totals 976,480 for Calvert and 753,291 for Wilson.
