Fire damages Main TV Shop on Main Street
A blaze at the Main TV Shop at 1311 Main Street shortly after 9 p m Tuesday caused about 500 in damage. Investigators say a short in the TV repair table of the electrical system started the fire, which was quickly extinguished by volunteer firefighters.

Judge R B Cross dismissed a $111,000 damage suit in 52nd District Court against Gatesville property owner J O Brown. The plaintiffs Mrs Cleo Ray and Mrs Doris Ray filed Aug 20 1956 after Fred L Ray killed Aug 9 1955 when two buildings on Gatesville square were shattered in a windstorm. City Faces Heavy Bill for Paved Street Repairs

Illness Fatal To Aury Powell
Aury Powell, 48, railway express employee, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday at his home 302 South Mt Street after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Thursday morning. Powell, a lifelong Coryell County resident, is survived by his widow, one son William Powell of San Angelo, one daughter Mrs Zana Lightsey of Gatesville, a granddaughter, and his parents Mr. and Mrs Millard Powell of Gatesville.
