The Relief Society hosts a Thanksgiving weekend at Garland school, with matinee shows led by Shear Rovaaber, 25 cent admission for adults, and candy and fish-pond booths. Friday features 11 booths selling essential garments and goods, plus a hot turkey dinner for 25 cents and a free concert in the evening. The event closes with a Relief Society Conference on Saturday.
Monday, Wm. Thomas and E. H. Bingham, Garland Meat Market proprietors, leased the Excelsior Hotel from Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Perkins. New managers take possession at noon with Mrs. Peterson and Miss Carrie Frederickson retained. Improvements planned. Silvered honey sale notice appended.
A citizen calls Garland voters to back Mosiah Evans for President and John Lant Joseph Jensen Joseph W. Lewis and Harry Boyd as Trustees after a orderly primary on October 14. He contrasts with a dubious later ticket and urges support for an economical honest town administration.
George B. Mannin, brother of Fred Manning of this city, was killed Tuesday on a new railroad in Nevada. He worked as a foreman in the Western Pacific project. He leaves a widow two sisters and one brother. Funeral services were held Thursday at Linquist chapel in Ogden. Fred Manning and wife attended the service after traveling to Ogden Wednesday.
Ogden Utah based Blackman and Griffin Co pays cash for alfa seed seeking current market prices. Local dealers report steady demand as farmers prepare spring planting and seed shipments.

Judge Henry H. Rolapp says the Ogden line will reach Brigham City by spring with work to start this winter after Engineer Joseph West arrives from Baker City. The Box Elder county metropolis is the target of the rapid transit expansion.
An 8 year old son of Indian Dan of Washakie died from pulmonary tuberculosis at the home of T. W. Whitaker who employed him to pick potatoes. The remains were taken to Washakie Saturday with funeral services held there Sunday.
Theatre goers in the city enjoyed a week of Della Pringle Company performances with crowds nightly. Highlights included Faust in No 1 style, Peaceful Valleys, Because She Loved Him So, The Little Christian, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, plus a matinee of The Little Christian and tonight’s Paris Priest with a diamond giveaway.
County Commissioners met with all members present on Monday October 18. They discussed road changes from Bothwell to Garland and bridging needs at Malad river. Deputies Wright and Reuben were appointed for Lucia and Clear Creek. Plans to move telephone poles in Riverside and to repair sections between Monument Promontory and Conor Springs to Little Mountain were approved or investigated. Debated gravel pits at East Garland and Elwood and postponed Yost road changes. Warn against wormy apples was granted to the county tree inspector. Sheriff fees for August and September were approved. One glanders case involving G M Steed’s horse was referred to Commissioner Adams with authority to act. The custodian was given authority to send foxglove bulbs. Several claims were allowed and the meeting adjourned.
Town Clerk H. C. Cutler names Ursel Rose William Preston and Mrs Geo F Grover as judges for the municipal election to be held Tuesday November 2 at the Garland Amusement hall.
