Garland Sugar Factory Delayed by Wet Weather
Persistent rain halted digging at the Garland Sugar Factory. All beets in sheds consumed and the plant steamed off. If conditions improve, digging will resume and the plant reopen. Thousands of tons remain in fields and the run may extend into February. Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. provides free board and logging for workers during shutdown. Agricultural Supt Geo Austin Informed says beet raisers will be instructed to pile beets on farms and deliveries will follow as needed.
