Residents observed a general holiday with turkey dinners as stores closed and schools dismissed. The Josephine Deffry Co. drew a crowded hall for the comedy drama A Grass Widow, while many citizens visited Ogden Logan Salt Lake and other cities. The day was bright but cold.
Josephine Deffry and her excellent company played to crowded houses in Garland this week with a string of strong performances. The star actress led a solid cast through A Wicked Woman A Sister s Sacrifice A Ruined Life A Grass Widow Fernando and La Belle Russe with engagements in Malad Brigham and Kaysville following the run.
The advertisement claims Foley's Honey and Tar can kill cough germs, heal the lungs, and prevent serious outcomes from pneumonia and consumption. It warns the genuine product comes in a yellow package and lists River Bros Garland and Tremonton drug stores as suppliers.
The Mantua Board of Education met November 1 with most members present. It referred purchasing a new school organ to Mr White. Carya's Colored Comedians performed to a large crowd in Plesding on Thursday. Dr and Mrs R J Smith and Wayne Morgan were in Salt Lake Saturday. Miss Pearl Saunders returns to Morgan and Sons store. Mrs Chan J Elmer to hold Thanksgiving family reunion. Relief Society plans a Thanksgiving dance for a large turnout. Jane Elmer wed Harry Thompson in Logan Temple last Wednesday and will reside in Garland. A reception for the brides parents was held last Saturday. Wedding dance for Mr and Mrs Thompson on Friday, Nov 27.
