Citizens of Garland gather for a mass meeting on June 12 to approve a "good sane" 4th of July celebration. Mayor J C Wheelon chairs. Town Clerk D Chapman is secretary. The General Fourth of July committee is formed with subcommittees for finance program sports decoration and more. Fireworks are omitted.
In a ten inning Garfield diamond clash Garland beat Hyde Park 9 to 8 after a error filled contest. Jensen and Lowe pitched for Garland while Cutler kept the official score and Campbell tallied runs and errors. A large crowd cheered as both teams traded blows with Hyde Park scoring three runs in the third and Garland pushing across late to secure the victory.
A Garland Globe letter from Geo. Clark questions civilian control over rural carrier rules and cites postal sections on work spaces and route mail separation. The writer defends F. E. King and H. S. Rice, urges signed replies, and condemns unnamed critics as unfit for Garland citizens.

Mixed train to Malad runs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 12:30 p.m., returning to Brigham Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 10:25 a.m.
Governor James N. Gillett told the Associated Press he instructed Attorney General Webb to stop the Jeffries Johnson fight. Webb said he had received orders to take action to prevent the July 4 bout and would act immediately.
Sunday services were led by Bishop A R Capener with singing and prayers. Elders Lew Harris and George Clark administered the sacrament. Malcolm M Rampton and family and George Earl Barnard were accepted as members of the ward. Speakers included Elder McDonald and A H Gleason. Attendance 70. Ward clerk L W Preston.
