A special Garland Town Board session at the Amusement hall heard two petitions on liquor regulation. Petition 1 urged higher license to 1600 annually with 7 am to 7 pm hours and plain glass fronts. Petition 2 favored keeping current licenses at 800 and 7 am to 11 pm with strict rules. Citizens spoke pro and con, no decision made, next meeting planned to consider all viewpoints.

Special Election on State Capitol Tax Vote in Garland
In Garland a special election produced only 28 votes on Tuesday June 9. Of these, 12 favored a 1 mill tax for 15 years to fund the State Capitol, 16 opposed. Judges were Peter Jensen Ursel Rose and A R Capener. Returns were given to County Clerk by Ursel Rose. Unofficial results later show about 4,000 opposed to the Legislature building the Capitol without statewide approval.

Funeral for Farmington Infant Rose Baby
Last Saturday afternoon funeral services were held at the residence of Mr and Mrs J G EB Larsen over the remains of the 3 months old baby of Charlie Rose of Farmington who died of whooping cough and pneumonia. Mrs Larsen had cared for the baby since its mother died about three months ago. The remains were taken to Farmington and interred by the slide of its mother Arael Rose L A Hose of Plymouth and Mr and Mrs J B Lurgan accompanied the remains to Farmington.

Soldiers Defeat Champions In City Park Baseball
Fort Douglas oldies defeated Champions 8 to 5 at City Park in a forenoon game. Jensen of Garland and Lowe of Brigham pitched for Champions. Garland hit well but struggled in the field. Campbell umpired, Evans tracked the goose eggs and runs. The Soldiers showed strong batting and fielding throughout the nine innings.

Black Record of Disease Week Ending June 6
The Salt Lake Health Board reports forty four new contagious disease cases for the week ending June 6 including fifteen smallpox sixteen scarlet fever three diphtheria six whooping cough four chickenpox and one measles. Quarantine counts include twenty four smallpox houses eighty four scarlet fever seven diphtheria ten smallpox at an isolation hospital. The note also cites prior weeks with rising cases and blames the American party administration for inability to cope as warmer weather comes.

Sewer Contract Let for Salt Lake Sugar Plant
