The Globe applauds Garland's rapid expansion over the past year with new buildings many new residences by Sugar Co and new business blocks. It notes a top tier sewer system cement pavements and improved streets water and electric services and the town being debt free. Planned summer fall upgrades include water to North Main street a public watering trough new fire system more blocks foundations for a stake tabernacle roads and sidewalks.
Judge Maughan handled numerous probate matters and trial proceedings. The State vs Seth M Wells saw amended information and a guilty plea to assault, with sentencing postponed. Several cases were continued or dismissed, jurors drawn for July hearings, and various petitions for administration and probate scheduled for July dates. A special center of trial jurors and a new venue were also noted.
A reader urged the Utah Idaho Sugar Co. officials to extend the city water system on North Main to Cal D. Mayfield’s home. The Globe supports the extension as beneficial for residents and potentially profitable for the company.
Some jurors named include Christian Holst John Johanson Olaf Poulson Olaf Jensen James C Hansen John R Standing Jr Nephi Brunker and Frank Dustman. The list of special venues for jurors was made necessary by the murder trial of Dee Brackenbury.
