Garland's Glorious Celebration in Tremont

A Tremont celebration opened in the early morning with artillery salutes and Old Glory raised at sunrise. The crowd packed the Amusement hall and Athletic park for music, orations by Hon. Fred J. Holton, a Japanese wrestling exhibition, a Riverside versus Garland baseball game 16 to 4, bronco busting, races, and a grand fireworks display. The Goddess of Liberty and her maids, escorted by Jim Brown’s company, received praise, and a Primary Alum ball closed the day with a tableau and festive atmosphere.
