Beet crops bonanza from rain spurs Bear River Valley forecast

Agricultural Superintendent Geo Austin says recent rainfall, though harming hay and grain, greatly benefits beets. He estimates beets gain value far beyond $25,000, notes bright prospects after his Bear River Valley tour, and predicts a record beet harvest starting Sept. 25 with 800 tons daily demand when the factory runs.

Peach Day Brigham City Rescheduled to Sept 19

Peach Day in Brigham City has moved from Sept 12 to Sept 19. The BC Military Band and Commercial Club plan a Labor Day boost to Ogden and Peach Day events. Activities include ball games, dancing, vaudeville, and a frat class musical program with big ripe peaches for all. The Ladies Auxiliary offers 25-cent meals. hotels and restaurants open for the day. Relief Society to provide refreshments.

Garland Base Ball Teams Sets Season End with Big Games

Garland manager W. P. Eaton schedules six closing contests across Lagoon Garland Malad City Riverside and Kept in September. Riverside plays at Athletic Park this week followed by Malad at home and Lagoon on September 2 against Bountiful Braves. Labor Day at Lagoon features a two game clash between Box Elder champions and Davis County champions with excursion rates offered. Final match on September 8 pitting Garland against Malad City at Malad City.

Garland Town Board Hears Club Use of Building Proposal

A Garland Commercial Club committee proposes allowing the Town Building to be used for club and Town Board meetings in exchange for furnishing space. The board approved the plan noting furniture remains needed for the building. Trustee TH Edwards resigns as chairman of the Board of Health due to duties with The Utah Sugar Co. and Trustee Joseph Jansen is appointed to fill the vacancy.
