Workman Suffers Electrical Shock at Church Site
A 47 year old cement finisher Fred Pipkins of Dallas was shocked while finishing concrete atop the Second Baptist Church at First and Miller. An aluminum pole became entangled in a highline causing a 7200 volt discharge that knocked him down and struck his head. Rescuers used a drag-line bucket as an improvised elevator to reach him. Pipkins, employed by Hollman and Hollman Construction sub contracting for Drew E Beaird Company, was rushed to Garland Clinic and Hospital then to St Pauls Hospital in Dallas in serious condition.
