In the seventh inning Milton Ham singled and scored for Snyder after Joe Reaves hit a triple. Garland pitcher Pat Sznajder allowed four hits while Snyder pitcher Ronnie Baker gave up two.
The Second Baptist Church on First Street and Miller Road will hold Sunday services in its new $53 000 sanctuary and educational building designed for 300. The church began as a mission of the First Baptist Church on August 19 1956 and now has 162 members with 292 Sunday School and 150 Training Union enrollees.
Bryan Broncs toppled the Garland Owls 9 4 in an extra inning state playoff game at Billy Disch Field. Lynn Skelton hit the tournament’s first home run at 315 feet, driving in Pat Saunder and Skelton as Bryan broke a 4 4 tie in the eighth. Lester P. Helm of Gerland was honored by National Sales Executives at the 22nd International Distribution Congress in Los Angeles. He received the FSMA trophy certificate of merit and lapel pin for leading field sales growth at Dr. Pepper. Helm and his wife attended as guests of NSE during the three day convention with industry leaders.
John J. Sullivan aged 65 of Syracuse New York lost both feet when he fell under a Missouri Pacific train as he attempted to alight in San Antonio Texas on Thursday. He was identified by authorities and the incident is under investigation.

Frank Dutto, organizing director of Local 3 in New York, invoked the Fifth Amendment under Senate Labor Rackets Committee questioning about an $85,470 collection from bakers and employers. The panel tied the money to a dinner for Max Kralstein, an international VP, who allegedly used funds for a home and gifts. Dutto said the funds would go to Kralstein and that he did not know if donors were pressured to buy tickets.
In Chicago on a North Side second floor apartment fire likely from an overloaded electrical circuit, three children Paul Edward Yates 12 Louis Wayne Yates 10 and Richard Lee Yates 8 were trapped and perished in a rear bedroom. Their mother Birgie Yates 37 and father Charles 40 escaped as Phillip 29 leaped from a window with injuries. Nine other families were displaced.
R. W. Thompson mayor of Richardson was chosen as president of the Dallas County Municipal League for 1957 58 succeeding Carrollton Mayor Walter Blanton. County Judge Lew Berrett vice president Mesquite City Manager J Griggs secretary treasurer and officers were elected at a Brook Hollow Industrialist Club meeting. W C Windsor Jr president of Windsor Properties was principal speaker. The league of city and county officials organized in April 1956.
New York officers in an unmarked unit chased and halted a speeding motorist who made an illegal U turn, only to discover the violator was in another unmarked police car.
Requiem mass followed Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas for Phil Pf. Reames father of Mrs. Kenneth Wiscomb of Garland. Reames died Tuesday at 4116 Bowser Tunilas. Interment was at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
Clark Howard reported a hit-and-run collision with a bear in Palm Desert area. The front end of his car was demolished and towed to a garage as rangers searched the desert for the animal after it fled into the barren landscape.
Mia of Hyden, 41, of Fort Worth died and her husband was injured in a head on crash on Highway 6 north of Kountie Thursday. Occupants of the other car suffered only minor injuries.
A highway crash near Fayetteville N C leaves 19 dead tying a national record with many migrants among the victims. The white truck driver escaped injuries as the migrant workers’ truck burned, and several victims were unidentified or known only by first names.
Dallas clergyman M. J. Cunningham Jr. will deliver the sermon at the regular Sunday morning worship at the Church of Christ located on 115 Taylor Drive. The small congregation, organized earlier this year, has 12 members listed on its roster.
In Duluth Minnesota a construction crew dropped an 8300 pound steel ball during work and it rolled through a street into a tunnel linking a coal house and a tall. The ball rolled while the foreman was in the tunnel nearby.
