The Post Office announces standard sizes for envelopes to simplify handling by machine and hand. Rules: nonmailable if under 3 by 4.5 inches, over 9 by 12 inches not recommended, nonrectangular shapes not mailable. The move aims to help patrons plan stationery purchases and speed mail service.
