Garden Grove to pay 26200 for voting district maps
Garden Grove has hired Compass Demographics for 26200 to continue drawing a five district voting map after earlier paying the Dolinka Group 23800 for initial work including a demographic study. The council will appoint one member from each district and elect its mayor by council vote, a change aimed at settling a California Voting Rights Act dispute. The panel’s makeup was approved Sept. 25 in a closed session to resolve the lawsuit alleging Latino candidates were disenfranchised. Compass will draft several maps for scrutiny before the council selects the final version, with no final date disclosed.
