The Westminster Police Department unveiled a new one stop training facility featuring rooms for hand to hand combat and scenario simulations. The space aims to provide officers with realistic practice areas and enhanced safety skills for daily duties.
Renovation of an old industrial building on Hazard Avenue near Olive Street cost about $5 million and took 18 months to complete. The facility, funded from leftover redevelopment funds, covers 20,964 square feet with an indoor firing range and a 10-lane tactical range. Annual operations and maintenance are estimated at 60,000 to 70,000 dollars, and the project aims to improve the department and attract other agencies. Marketing officials for the 2016 OC Tet Festival wrap a Route 64 OCTA bus in a Year of the Monkey advertisement traveling Bolsa Avenue in Little Saigon. The festival runs Feb 12 to 14 in Fountain Valley, with an unveiling that drew about 200 people at Mile Square Regional Park.
