Letters to Santa bring moon dreams and dragon requests
In November the city received over 300 letters to Santa with hundreds more expected. Elementary students write to Santa Claus and teachers deliver responses after holidays. LeAnne Pancoast, a city worker, enjoys personalizing replies to youngsters aged five to eight who request moon trips, puppies, Nerf guns, and Frozen items alongside iPhones and tablets. Diana Cobbert of the Community Services and Recreation Department notes the program, active since 1972, preserves belief in Santa for local kids.
