Judge Won't Block Kansas Abortion Insurance Law
U S District Judge Wesley Brown refused to halt Kansas statute restricting abortion coverage in health plans. The ruling allows riders covering only abortion for plans issued after July 1, and requires out of pocket payment if no rider is bought. The ACLU claimed the law imposes an unconstitutional obstacle and discriminatory burden, but evidence of substantial impact and likelihood of success was deemed insufficient.
