Southwest Kansas corn harvest shows mixed early results
In Finney and neighboring districts, corn harvest opens with optimism from Greg Stone of Garden City who calls conditions better than expected. He cites improved weather and cautious farming practices as reasons for a potentially stronger crop than last year, with his harvest finishing in about 10 days. Gary Friesen of Scott Co-op reports a slow, downward trend in corn yields though some irrigated stock will come in, while milo is highlighted as the best fall crop this year.
