Forest Fire Burns 12 Hours Near Olathe Kansas

A 12 hour blaze scorched timber and brush in a two mile square area five miles northwest of Olathe along Cedar Creek. About 150 workers including farmers volunteers and personnel from the Olathe Naval Air Station helped fight the fire.

McCain to Visit Garden City October 3

A tour led by Dr. James McCain president of Kansas State College will inspect Garden City Experiment Station facilities and the Holcomb irrigation project on October 3. Also attending are Dr. A D Weber dean of agriculture Dr. Glenn Beck director of KS State experiments and Dan Beatty dean of administration. A noon luncheon at the Warren hotel will feature McCain with local civic clubs. The prior evening a Chamber of Commerce dinner and party will be held at the Garden City country club.
