Pena named Holcomb city clerk and raises approved
Holcomb City Council appointed Robin Pena as city clerk and approved raising her wage from 13 to 14 dollars per hour starting today. Pena, deputy city clerk since February 2000, succeeds Lisa Staab who resigned September 8 without notice and had served since 1996, later becoming city clerk in May 2002. Greenlight also approved 48.25 hours overtime for Pena and 80 hours for City Superintendent Kelly Stevenson amid staffing strains. The council amended the 2004 budget to spend 1.1 million from reserve funds to buy water rights while negotiating with four water owners for 2008 bond funded needs. A new ordinance allows operation of the fire department with fewer than 10 firefighters if needed. An Holcomb Improvement Committee was formed to tackle community projects, inviting volunteers via Colleen Lauer.
