Planned WWII Honor Flight to D C canceled in Kansas area

Western Kansas veterans faced cancellations for the memorial trip as local groups report little publicity and travel barriers. La Veta Miller notes a dozen veterans from Garden City and Colby will mostly drive to Wichita, with one disabled from attending. The movement began with Earl Morse's 2005 effort and now spans 87 states with 100 hubs, including five in Kansas.

Postal service studies consolidation of 252 sites nationwide

A nationwide feasibility study examines moving processing from Hutchinson Dodge City Salina and Hays to Wichita Liberal and Topeka with Liberal possibly shifting to Amarillo and Topeka to Kansas City. Officials say 252 centers could save about 3 billion annually though no decisions have been made.
