Eminem Leads MTV VMAs Amidst Controversy and Upset
Eminem won video of the year and best male video for The Real Slim Shady at the MTV Video Music Awards amid an unpredictable show marked by a stage crasher. N Sync took three awards while Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tim Commerford and others caused disturbances outside and inside Radio City. GLAAD protested Eminem’s presence citing violent lyrics, MTV aired a violence PSA afterward, and several arrests occurred among audience members and performers.
