Digital Rhine revives Over-the-Rhine with start-ups
Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine district, once decayed, hosts coffee bars and microbreweries as a public-private push backs new economy ventures. Main Street Ventures offers free leased space, a $385,000 two-year grant, and a network of investors and sponsors supporting about 35 Internet firms. Pete Blackshaw's PlanetFeedback.com grew to 40 employees amid $25 million in venture funding, moving into new offices. He notes the model carries risk with one in three startups failing, but remains proud of the team.

Computers reshape student writing at Catholic University
Rosemary Winslow notes word processing aids focus on meaning but dulls editing and fosters informal e mail styles. Easy Internet access raises plagiarism risk while longhand writing engages creativity. She urges practice across disciplines and frequent reading as core to developing writing skill.
