Brownback Pushes Phaseout of Kansas Wind Rule
Gov. Sam Brownback urged starting repeal of Kansas Renewable Portfolio Standard requiring 20 percent renewable power by 2020. He backs negotiating with wind supporters and opponents to end state and federal wind subsidies, a stance likely to widen rift with House leaders and affect Westar Energy contracts. Wardrobe of wind leases for rural farmers and the Holcomb coal plant deal echo in the background.
