The couple has three children Jennifer Mongeau and Michael Burch of Garden City and Wendee Grady of Manhattan, plus two others.
Vester Carl and Wana Vester mark their 50th wedding anniversary with a Labor Day weekend family reunion in Garden City. Hosts are their children Richard and Debbie McNaught of Garden City Steve and Sherry Clevenger of Broomfield Cole and Terry Engler of Salina. Carl and Wanda Smith wed Sept 3 1950 at Horace. They have nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Wes and Sherry Wheeler of Manhattan announce the engagement of their daughter Rebecca D. Wheeler to Bradley S. Schwant son of Marlin Schwant Wheaton and Connie Corbin Vermillion. Rebecca a 1995 Manhattan High School grad works as customer care supervisor at Western Wireless. Brad a 1996 Onaga High School graduate and a Manhattan Area Tech alumnus with automotive and business computer tech degrees is a customer care specialist at Western Wireless. They plan a September 30 2000 wedding at University Christian Church Manhattan.
Christine Marie Birney and Christopher Lamar Fullmer of Dighton announce their engagement. Parents are Jim Lorimer and Charles Laskey and Lamar Fullmer of Dighton and Garden City. The bride-to-be owns Little People Daycare in Dighton and is a Dighton High School graduate. The groom is a Dighton High School graduate, Kansas State University alum, farmer with his father, and a computer technician with Topher's in Dighton. The wedding is planned for October 28, 2000, at First Christian Church in Dighton.
Family of Matthies Springs announces the engagement of Kelly Matthies to Mike Springs of Littleton Colorado. Kelly is a CSU biology graduate and pharmacy technician. Mike, son of Darrell and Edna Cardell, is a Redstone Golf Rio Grande Club employee. They plan to wed October 14 2000 at Faith Community Church Littleton.

Jodi is a Goodland High School 1997 graduate and Colby Community College 1999 and works for the FSA in Hays. Aaron is employed by Richardson Trucking. The couple plan to marry September 9 2000 at the VFW Hall in Goodland.
