County at odds with sheriff in Kansas border dispute
WaKEENEY AP Ryan Bloom, sworn in June as one of Kansas' youngest sheriffs, faces a feud with the Trego County Commission. He says the panel won’t pay a $111 tow bill on his patrol car, has had $20 docked for dog food, and weighs a $3,000 salary cut. Bloom’s tenure followed a resignation amid an KBI probe into his predecessor. The car was towed after breakdowns near Dodge City as Bloom testified in a case linked to his prior police service. The commission, citing vehicle use and a part time Cedar Bluff State Park ranger job, pressures Bloom to cover costs and limits his authority. The panel faces a looming decision on the towing bill and possible pay adjustments.
