Romney disavows Mourdock rape comment in Indiana race
Republican Mitt Romney distanced himself from Senate candidate Richard Mourdock's remark that pregnancy from rape is God intended, while endorsing him. Democrats urged Romney to drop the ad. Mourdock faced broader GOP backlash as others urged apologies. The remark echoes Todd Akin’s earlier comments and tests Romney aligned campaigns in key battlegrounds.
