Kansas voters split on taxes amid mood swing on economy

Garden City Arts hosts fourth Dia de los Muertos festival
Garden City Arts welcomes the public to the Nov. 1 Dia de los Muertos festival from 2 to 5 p.m. at 318 N Main St with food art face painting family activities and vendors. Gobble Wobble 5K at Victor Ornelas Elementary
The Victor Ornelas Elementary School hosts the Gobble Wobble 5K on Saturday November 7 with registration at 8 15 a m and a 9 a m start at the school. The three mile route runs to Sam's Club and back and uses a free will donation to benefit the Victor Ornelas Wellness Committee with prizes for top male and female in each age division. City Hires Look at Housing Authority Repairs Needs
Garden City officials heard from Robyn Graffin, housing authority director, on funding cuts from HUD that have reduced operating and capital grants for Pershing Manor and Redwood Place. The two aging properties total 97 units and require elevators, roofing, siding, AC, furnaces, sidewalks, and parking lot repairs as federal funds shrink and rents yield little revenue.
