Drought Eases in Midwest As Storms Boost Harvest Outlook
Storms reduced drought in key Midwest states improving corn and soybean prospects while winter wheat planting progresses. Drought monitor shows 62.4 percent of lower 48 in some drought, down from last week. Iowa and Kansas show notable improvement. USDA notes 79 percent of corn harvested, with Iowa and Illinois at 87 percent. Soybeans 71 percent harvested, above 58 percent five-year average. Wet pattern forecast sustains moisture for autumn and winter recharge. Winter wheat 71 percent planted, 36 percent emerged, near five-year pace.
