Busters rally past Scotties 28 17 behind fourth quarter surge
Garden City Community College trailed 17 14 late in the third quarter at Highland but rode a veteran-led finish to a 28 17 victory at Kessinger Field. QB Nick Marshall bounced back after a bruised knee, finishing 18 of 33 for 245 yards and 103 rushing yards. Jamal Tyler scampered for two touchdowns as Rod Coleman hauled in 10 passes for 166 yards. Highland’s defense clamped down late, but GCCC capitalized on miscues to pull away in the final period.

Garden City High School Lady Buffaloes defend their Western Athletic Conference title by going 4-0 in Liberal. Liberal finished second at 3-1, Great Bend 2-2, Hays 1-3, and Dodge City 0-4. The team’s improved blocking and defense earned the championship with straight-set wins over Great Bend Liberal and Hays and a three-set win over Dodge City. The 18-12 overall Lady Buffs next host Goddard Eisenhower and Maize South at the GCHS Gymnasium.
