Plan B? USD 457 eyes single high school solution

Corn market slump harms area farmers in early harvest
Market losses push corn prices down as USDA crops report indicates higher output. Farmers report good yields on irrigated corn despite moisture at 15 to 18 percent, with cutting starting slowly across Scott, Gray, and Stevens counties. Co op elevators have begun collecting grain though some counties have not yet taken in corn. Harvest pace lags with 34 percent harvested versus 65 percent last year.
