Do Kansas lawmakers personally benefit from business tax cuts
Nearly 70 percent of Kansas lawmakers or their spouses own a business or property that could gain from a controversial tax exemption enacted in 2012. Gov. Sam Brownback and wife Mary also appear to benefit, with Mary Brownback owning a stake in SET LLC and the governor holding farmland. The exemption covers pass through income from LLCs, S corporations, partnerships, family farms, and sole proprietorships.
