Relay for Life Finney County shifts to May and daylong format
The annual Relay for Life in Finney County moves to May 2 2015 and runs noon to midnight at First Baptist Church Scott City with a soup luncheon 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers say the change aims to attract more students and teachers while continuing cancer-focused fundraising led by chairs Manuel Terrazas and Jamie Parkin. The event features a survivors ceremony, entertainment, door prizes and a silent auction, with proceeds staying local to aid treatment and wigs before contributing to the American Cancer Society. A target of 70 000 is set from 25 teams and 12 members each.

Garden City Weekend Offers Variety Of Events
This weekend in Garden City features the Seventh Annual Dog Jog and Pet Expo at the American Legion with a 10 a.m. start for a one or two mile walk, a Kids Corner, silent auctions, vendor fair, and prizes including a $300 gift certificate and an iPad Mini. Proceeds go to the Finney County Humane Society. Also on offer are performances of Catch Me If You Can at the State Theatre and concerts and community events at local venues with proceeds supporting arts and charities.
