NCAA sanctions Colorado football over recruiting violations
The NCAA placed Colorado on two years of probation and cut football scholarships from 25 to 20 for 2003-04 or 2004-05 after 53 violations, many under former coach Neuheisel. Neuheisel is barred from off campus recruiting at Washington until May 31. Colorado will limit on campus visits to 51 and reduce recruiting staff, with sanctions to persist through July 31 for off campus recruitment. The infractions committee cited a deliberate pattern aimed at gaining a recruiting advantage and poor monitoring of staff.
