Kansas veterans fly honor flight to DC memorial
A group led by Central Plains volunteers escorts Kansas World War II veterans to the Washington DC World War II Memorial, with emotional visits to the Memorial, the Washington Monument, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Dan Curtis organized funding and coordination, raising about $80,000 with church and veteran groups to send 40 veterans on the trip. Curtis vows to expand the program, while veterans recall shaking hands, tears, and a day seen as among the happiest of their lives.
