Daniel Wiltz, 57, of Kurtz Spring Louisiana, was found dead after his 1959 Piper Super Cub crashed near Garden City Airport in stormy conditions. The FAA investigates the crash linked to low visibility and VFR flight. Wiltz was en route from Alaska to Louisiana with a planned Oklahoma City stop.
Daniel Rudy Ruettiger, famed for Notre Dame legend, spoke to a near full Garden City Community College gym audience. The crowd cheered as he stressed never giving up, recounting his long path from power plant worker and Navy veteran to suiting up for Notre Dame.

Online renewals require accurate renewal notices and insurance with a participating company, and first-time plate issuances and late renewals are not eligible.
The Kansas Supreme Court will review an appeals court ruling that released KDOT from paying The Garden City Telegram’s attorney fees of 13349.19 in a case about access to railroad safety ratings. The Telegram sued after KDOT refused to release ratings for Finney County crossings, leading to a fee award against KDOT later overturned on appeal.
