Mistake prompts policy change in Medicaid billing
In Kansas, a $1 million Medicaid payment to DeFever-Osborn Drug after a single eyedrops claim led to a deposit instead of a return, with future payments drawn from that balance. Officials later changed rules, creating refund procedures and oversight as a legislative hearing examines how the error occurred and why it wasn’t caught.
