SRS optimistic on Kansas budget and waiting lists
Kansas officials say the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services proposes a $2.4 billion budget for FY2005 starting July 1, with a 4.1 percent spending rise. About $20.7 million would cover rising demand for adoptions, child care, cash aid, and medical services for the poor, while advocates note 700 people would still await in home services after funding.
