The USD 457 Board of Education unanimously fired transportation director Diane Hahn after a loaded revolver and ammunition were found Oct. 20 in a teacher’s office at Garden City High School. The resolution cites a breach of duties for failing to properly respond to and report the bus driver’s handgun on district property. The bag belonged to a 71 year old part time driver who had taken it to Topeka for a debate trip on Sept. 15. The Class B misdemeanor carries penalties for firearms on school grounds. The Finney County Attorney’s office is reviewing affidavits. Hahn will not comment publicly.
A Wichita manufacturer Bob Eisel Powder Coatings and its owner Bob Eisel plus general manager Kenric Steinert were fined a total of 210000 after pleading guilty to making false written statements to the government. The judge imposed three years probation for Eisel and Steinert, but no prison time.
